ABOUT ME

SHAI DOLINSKY

Advance Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy
BA, MA in Psychoanalytical Studies

I am a Psychotherapist educated in Israel, New York and the UK. As a bilingual I practice psychotherapy in both English and Hebrew.

My professional life took me through working as the Clinical Manager at an Eating Disorder NHS-funded charity and then working as the Lead Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist at the Priory Hospital.

At the Priory Hospital my role involved assessing and treating young people and adults with a range of psychological struggles in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as supervising staff on the various wards.

Working full-time in private practice for the last nine years I divide my working week between seeing clients in London (currently only video calls) and Glasgow (Face to Face & video calls).

PHILOSOPHY

A healing relationship between you and the therapist is created through developing feelings of safety and respect, allowing issues of dependence, trust and care to be worked through together.

Through this relationship I aim to create a safe space for us to work together to help you understand yourself better and manage your worries or pain.

Therapy involves being with and talking through difficulties and anxieties being faced, sometimes these are obvious to you and sometimes they happen out of our awareness.

APPROACH

Working within a comfortable, safe environment where, given time a clearer sense of the connection between your feelings, thoughts and way of being can emerge, helping you to foster a healthy sense of your Self.

Therapy combines Thinking, Feeling and Being and aims to enhance your ability to feel happier and more comfortable with yourself and to extend the range of your emotions.

MOTIVATION

Coming for therapy can be very difficult. I hope to help you to find a way to make that daunting journey as manageable and comfortable as possible.

It is also possible that you might find therapy interesting and inspiring and deeply rewarding. As I believe in the uniqueness of each person and I work with your individual needs, it is then possible to find a way to work through your issues in a way that is true and good for you.

I believe therefore in working with you in such a way which allows for change and development at your own pace. I admire my clients for their hard work, courage and willingness to change things that are coming in the way of a fulfilled life. It is therefore my privilege to be given the chance to help them and to be part of such a rewarding and enriching journey.
